Founded by Rebecca Perez in 2018, GOSS Magazine features women in business who break barriers and inspire others to do the same.
If you browse through a copy of GOSS Magazine, you’ll see photos of savvy business women that are poised, confident, and successful. And if you look at every individual closely, you’ll notice that behind each pair of eyes is a remarkable story that needs to be told.
GOSS Magazine is a platform that tells those stories and highlights the achievements of women around the world who have moved mountains to change lives in a positive way. At the core of it all is an individual named Rebecca Perez, a fiery and determined girlboss and the founder of the company, who is invested in her goal to uplift and inspire others, something she always knew she needed to do.
At a young age, Perez was estranged from her family, and that experience along with the challenges that followed, fueled her to create a better life for herself, her sibling, and other individuals who have gone through a similar challenge.
“I was 19 when I took on the role of being my sister’s public guardian who was 14 at the time,” Perez shares. “The experience really triggered something in me to make sure that I am always doing good for her. I had to really shape up and just be like her mom in a sense,” she adds. Overcoming that hardship together transformed the relationship Perez and her sister shared, evolving it into an unbreakable bond that has impacted both of their lives in astounding ways.
“It made me a better person and gave me a purpose,” Perez says. “I didn’t know my sister before we moved in together, she was seven or six years younger than me, yet we were able to build such a beautiful relationship and our bond continues to grow till this day,” she says.
There’s no doubt that the pain we endure in life brings us together, and the people we have by our sides supporting, guiding, and believing in us, play a huge role in how we recover, heal, and move forward. For Perez and her sister, they had each other. But unfortunately, not everyone has someone to turn to. That’s what inspired Perez to create GOSS, a crossroads for support, wisdom, and inspiration, that allows you to not only learn and gain guidance from one person but hundreds who strive to be there.
Perez realized the importance of mentoring young women and girls after the experience with her sister, and it drove her to begin hosting networking events where women could connect, share knowledge, and support one another. She used the pain she felt from being rejected and neglected by her own parents, to fuel and create a better life whilst inspiring other women to do the same.
“By me doing it, mentoring my younger sister and going through that experience, it allowed me to envision what I wanted this brand to be like,” she says. “My ‘why’ is so big, I just never want to see any girl go through the same struggle we did. I want every woman to feel safe and be independent, especially when it comes to financial freedom, which is the most important thing a woman can have,” she continues. “I saw my parents, my mother not having that, and I can’t imagine that being me. I just want to inspire other women to move beyond that as well,” she concludes.
It’s clear that GOSS Magazine is a lot more than just a magazine, but is also a movement that is inspiring women to believe in themselves, challenge the status quo, and carve their own paths. Rebecca Perez is the rose that grew from the concrete, and her ability to dream big has given her the opportunity to cultivate a movement that is changing lives and communities around the world.
