Ever since it premiered in 2020, Emily in Paris has captivated fans (i.e., us) with its fun storylines, beautiful scenery, bold fashion, and a totally unrealistic take on the careers of both marketing and restaurant ownership—and we love all of it! Last summer, the fourth season of the show premiered (in two batches, it was a whole thing) and set the scene for beaucoup de drama in both Paris *and* Rome.
But what happens now? Will there be more Emily in our futures? Will she have to choose between two hot guys yet again? (I mean, yes. She’s kind of made a pattern of that.) Here’s everything we know about Emily in Paris season 5.
Is Emily in Paris returning for season 5?
Netflix came through with a YES. “We’re thrilled with the incredible response to this season of Emily in Paris and excited to return for a fifth to continue Emily’s adventures in Rome and Paris!” creator Darren Star confirmed. “Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome,” confirmed Darren. “It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris, but she’s going to have a presence in Rome.”
Lily Collins confirmed the news herself first on Good Morning America, saying, “Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work-life balance,” she said. “We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.”
Emily in Paris was renewed for seasons 3 and 4 back in January 2022, only a month after season 2 premiered, so the timing of this renewal is spot-on with Netflix’s previous patterns.
Even so, there was a little hint this was coming. In May 2024, Variety reported that a walk-on role in Emily in Paris season 5 was auctioned off at the amfAR Gala charity event at the Cannes Film Festival. When the prize was auctioned, it was reportedly said onstage that the season would begin filming in mid-2025. Following the event, a source told Variety that Netflix hadn’t actually renewed the show for season 5 yet, and the amfAR website was reportedly changed to note the walk-on role is “contingent upon season 5 pickup.”
Lily also posted about the possibility of a fifth season in an Instagram post about season 4 wrapping filming months ago. “I cannot wait to share what we’ve created together. And I REALLY hope we all get to do it again,” she wrote.
What will Emily in Paris season 5 be about?
Emily in Paris has been focused on the love life and career of lead character Emily (obviously), so fans can expect that to continue.
