In case you’re looking for things to read into, Kayla Nicole dropped a cryptic statement on Instagram amid her ex-boyfriend Travis Kelce’s engagement to Taylor Swift.
According to Page Six, Kayla shared a video of Tracee Ellis Ross chatting about “experiencing joy,” where the actor said “I work at it. I think joy is different from happiness. I feel like happiness is something you can get at 7-Eleven, and joy is something that you earn and work for and takes practice.”
I mean, this could mean absolutely nothing (maybe Kayla was just feeling the quote!), but for what it’s worth, it was shared shortly after Travis and Taylor announced their engagement.
FYI, Kayla spoke about how difficult it’s been rehashing her relationship with Travis during Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test earlier this year, telling fellow castmates, “I just get a lot of like shit because [Travis] is dating such a mega superstar.”
While Kayla emphasized that she likes Tay, she added, “It’s pretty constant. Exhausting. Constantly. It doesn’t matter. I could post about the sky being blue, and people will have a response about an ex and their new situation.”
Reminder that Kayla and Travis dated on and off from 2017 to 2022. Travis spoke about their split, and specifically rumors that it happened because he was “cheap.”
“You’ve got to be crazy if you’d think I would never help or gave her a couple thousand to grab some food or she gave me some money to go get some food….” he said. “We were in a relationship for five years. A hundred dollars here, a hundred dollars there wasn’t even thought about.”
Kayla also shut down the rumors, saying on the Unapologetically Angel podcast (via Page Six), “Do I look like anybody that would split anything… He addressed that too, though. I don’t even know why that even became a thing. That was never an issue in our relationship but it was definitely a rumor on the internet.”
