Plenty of iconic moments have gone down within the storied walls of New York City’s Carlyle Hotel. It’s where legends prep for the Met Gala. It’s where Miley Cyrus and Mariah Carey pop up for impromptu performances. There’s even a rumor Princess Diana, Michael Jackson, and Steve Jobs once shared an elevator at the Carlyle! And as of last week, the hotel can go ahead and add Cosmopolitan’s anniversary celebration to its storied events list. This month, we celebrated 60 years since groundbreaking editor-in-chief Helen Gurley Brown took over Cosmo, reimagining the magazine and establishing the bold voice and ethos still embraced today. To celebrate, we’ve dug deep into our archives and revisited some of our most revolutionary features. And last week, to top off a full month of Cosmo nostalgia, we hosted some of our favorite celebs for a star-studded dinner celebration at none other than Dowling’s at The Carlyle.
VIP guests arrived courtesy of premium rides provided by Lyft, and after being greeted with Cosmopolitan cocktails (obviously), editor-in-chief Willa Bennett offered a toast reflecting on Cosmo’s impactful legacy and the fun yet to come. Guests included Nat Wolff, Kathryn Gallagher, Suni Lee, Madison Thompson, Lumia Nocito, Jack Wolfe, Jordan Firstman, JaNa Craig, Gus Dapperton, Hallie Batchelder, and Josie Totah. Attendees grabbed copies of the Fall 2025 issue, which were sprinkled throughout the room, and a supersized version of the cover created the night’s prime photo op: a shot with our 60th-anniversary cover star, Margaret Qualley.
The action kept rolling until Dowling’s closing time, and guests were still trickling out well after dinner service had ended. If you’re convinced your invite was lost in the mail, do not fret! You can still check out all the images from the night here.
