Machine Gun Kelly isn’t holding back on his new album, Lost Americana. The singer-songwriter seemingly opened up about his split from Megan Fox for the first time on his track, “Treading Water,” with vulnerable lyrics where the musician predicts he’ll “die alone.”

“This’ll be the last time you hear me say sorry / That’ll be the last tear you waste on me crying / I broke this home,” he muses on the song, which could refer to his breakup with the Jennifer’s Body actor last fall.

Megan and MGK, who have been on-again, off-again since 2020, revealed that they were expecting their first child together in November 2024. Weeks later, they called it quits when Megan reportedly found texts from other women in the singer’s phone.

This allegedly went down right before Thanksgiving, and elsewhere on the track, MGK sings, “I’m lookin’ at the kids’ faces / Sittin’ in the driveway while I pack up suitcases / I just ruined their holiday, and lies don’t die, they grow.”

He then seemingly refers to their baby girl, Saga Blade, at the end of the second verse: “I broke this home, but I’ll change for our daughter, so she’s not alone.”

During an interview on The New York Times’ “Popcast,” the “Bloody Valentine” singer opened up about the chatter surrounding his breakup with Megan, admitting he “can’t control” the online narrative.

“Ironically, neither me or Meghan have said anything. There could have been zero drama and you would never know,” he told the podcast hosts during the August 8 episode.

He also shared a story about the origin of his song, “Sweet Coraline,” which was inspired by a fan stopping him during a cigarette break to ask about the split. According to the musician, she ran from a bar across the street, where she and her friends “debated” whether it was him. She then asked if she could ask him a question, to which he responded, “Yeah, anything you want.”

“And she goes, ‘How did you fumble Megan Fox?’ I said, ‘Goddamn!’” he jokingly shared of the interaction.

As for where he and Megan’s relationship stands now, they seem to be keeping the peace while co-parenting Saga. According to an Us Weekly source, a recent trip to Costa Rica was a “big stepping stone” toward the pair rekindling their romance.

“Things feel back to ‘normal’ between them, but they are not putting a label on their relationship,” they shared, adding, “Seeing him be with their baby girl has brought them closer together. They are spending a lot of time under one roof, and Megan does let him stay at her house to help her with the baby. It has been a team effort, and he has stepped up.”
