Meet the Cast and Characters of ‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’

Harriet Slater as Ellen MacKenzie

Ellen is the future mother of Jamie Fraser (though the show takes place years before he’s born). She’s the oldest of her siblings and spends a good amount of time looking after her brother Colum. Her brothers are trying to set her up to marry a man from another clan to help ease relations, but she has other plans in mind.

Harriet Slater is an English actress who you might recognize as Sandra from the DC Universe show Pennyworth (her first-ever on-screen role, BTW). She also had a role in 2023’s Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

Jamie Roy as Brian Fraser

From those curls and that last name, you’ve probably already guessed he’s Jamie’s future father. Brian is the son of Lord Lovat and Davina Porter, one of the maids at the castle, meaning he was born out of wedlock. Though he may not be the MacKenzie’s choice for Ellen’s husband (they really hate the Frasers), he’s got his eyes set on her and won’t let her go.

Jamie Roy is a Scottish actor, and although he’s appeared in several movies since landing his first role in 2018, this leading role as Brian is definitely going to be his big break.

Hermione Corfield as Julia Moriston

Julia is a young woman living in WWI-era England. She’s also the future mother of Claire and wife of Henry Beauchamp. As we know, the ability to time travel is genetic, so it seems Julia is about to set out on an epic romantic adventure across centuries.

Hermione Corfield is an English actress with a long list of movies on her resume, including Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Mr. Holmes, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Jeremy Irvine as Henry Beauchamp

Henry is an Englishman and the future father of Claire. He’s enrolled in the army to fight in WWI, taking him away from his love, Julia. But that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t travel across time to find her.

Jeremy is an English actor with an impressive resume. He made his film debut starring in Steven Spielberg’s War Horse and has been in other major hits like Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.

Tony Curran as Lord Lovat

Lord Lovat (AKA Simon Fraser) is Brian’s father, Jamie’s grandfather, and head of Clan Fraser. He has a grudge against Clan MacKenzie because of the role Red Jacob (Ellen’s father) played in his downfall. Fun fact: he’s a real historical figure who lost his head after losing the Jacobite rising of 1745.

Tony Curran is a Scottish actor who’s appeared in major movies like X-Men: First Class, Mary Queen of Scots, and Thor: The Dark World, as well as shows like Doctor Who and Sons of Anarchy.

Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser

If you’re still not over Murtagh Fitzgibbons’ death in season 5 of Outlander (because same) then you’ll be happy to know we get to see him again as a much younger man. Mutagh is eventually Jamie’s godfather, but in Blood of My Blood he’s friends with Brian.

Rory Alexander is an English actor who’s likely a new face for Outlander fans, having mostly done short films and short TV stints until now. Knowing that his character stays around through the original Outlander series, we’ll likely get to see a lot of him in Blood of My Blood.

Seamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie

You may remember Colum from Outlander as the head of Clan MacKenzie who suffers from a degenerative disease that makes it hard to walk (a disease that, as Claire points out, won’t be identified for many, many years). In Blood of My Blood, he’s a much younger man who has yet to be named head of the clan.

Seamus McLean Ross is a newcomer on the scene, with just two short TV roles to date. But with a major role as Colum, the Scotsman is sure to be kickstarting his career.

Sam Retford as Dougal Mackenzie

Dougal is another character fans will be well familiar with from Outlander. He’s Ellen’s brother (and Jamie’s uncle) and he’s also in the running to be head of Clan MacKenzie following their father’s death. He’s an act first and think later kind of guy, and as we know from Outlander, he ends up as the clan’s war chiefton.

Sam Retford is an Australian-English actor who got his start in the theater. On screen, he’s mostly been in British TV shows like Coronation Street, Casualty, and Hollyoaks: Tom’s Life.

Conor Macneill as Ned Gowan

We know Ned Gowan as the MacKenzies’ lawyer from Outlander, but as it turns out, he’s been around for quite some time. He went to school in Edinburgh but soon grew tired of city life and decided to take a job up in the Highlands working for the clan.

From Northern Ireland, Conor MacNeill is probably best known for his role in the HBO show Industry. He’s also been in Belfast (alongside Caitríona Balfe–Claire from the original Outlander) and Derry Girls.

John Lumsden as Malcolm Grant

Malcolm Grant is a young man from, you guessed it, Clan Grant. He’s the eldest son of Isaac Grant and the future Laird of Clan Grant. He tries to pursue Ellen (with the support of Ellen’s brothers) but she only has eyes for Brian.

John Lumsden is a Scottish actor who’s had a few smaller TV roles, so Blood of My Blood is definitely his biggest undertaking to date.
