Our collective era of clowning is over! After months of speculation, Taylor Swift has finally announced TS12, and there’s a lot to go over when it comes to the release date, theme, production, and general vibe. Buckle up.
What Is TS12 Called?
Taylor revealed the name of the album on New Heights, telling Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce that her upcoming album is officially called The Life of a Showgirl.
“It was something I was working on while I was in Europe on the Eras Tour,” she said. “It feels like kinda energetically how my life has felt, and this album is about what was going on behind the scenes during my inner life during this tour which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant.”
What’s the Theme of This Era?
Taylor said the theme is “everything that was going on behind the curtain” and that her main goals were infectious melodies and crisp lyrics.
The vibe is also clearly ORANGE—from Taylor’s lipstick, to the background on her website countdown, to the literal color of the Empire State Building on August 12.
And on that note, thanks to the combination of green in the album’s “locked” image in Tay’s Instagram profile pic (see above), people are making comparisons to oxidization and the Statue of Liberty. Might be a reach, or might be something to it–you decide!
Psst: Tay also confirmed on New Heights that the album is more upbeat that TTPD since “life has been more upbeat!”
Will There Be Variants?
Yes! There’s the “SWEAT AND VANILLA PERFUME” edition, the “IT’S FRIGHTENING” edition, the “IT’S RAPTUROUS” edition, and the “IT’S BEAUTIFUL” edition. However, each variant has the same 12 songs—there won’t be any additions!

Who Is Producing TS12?
Taylor dropped a Spotify playlist called called “and, baby, that’s show business for you,” which features songs produced by Max Martin and Shellback. She’s since confirmed that the duo produced The Life of a Showgirl.
What About Collabs?
Sabrina Carpenter is collaborating with Taylor with the title track, which she made clear ahead of time by having her website feature the date “August 12, 2025″—right when the internet was reaching peak meltdown over Tay’s announcement.
When Is the Release Date?
