It’s been ~ 84 years ~ since we’ve seen Gerry Turner attempt to find love on our screens during his inaugural season of The Golden Bachelor. Now, a whole other spin-off (hello @ The Golden Bachelorette!) later, fans are gearing up for a continuation of the highly watched franchise. Enter: everything we know about The Golden Bachelor season 2…and all the drama it has already caused.
Yep! In April 2024, ABC announced that The Golden Bachelor had officially been renewed for season 2.
Who is the Golden Bachelor?
Along with the renewal news, ABC introduced the season 2 lead, Mel Owens.
The 66-year-old silver fox is a former NFL player, a sports injury lawyer, and a divorcé looking for a new teammate in life. He’s also a bit controversial, if you haven’t heard.
During a June appearance on the In the Trenches podcast, Mel angered fans when he said he was “cutting” any contestants who were “60 or over”…and not long after, Reality Steve reported that Mel had been fired for his ageist comments.
However, it was later confirmed that Mel hadn’t gotten the boot and would still be serving as season 2’s Golden Bachelor. He also issued an apology for his comments (kind of).
When is The Golden Bachelor season 2 airing?
Get ready, because the second season is hitting your screens sooner than you think! ABC recently announced that the show would return on Wednesday, September 24, at 8 p.m. EST, with episodes airing live on ABC and available to stream the next day on Hulu.
Who is in The Golden Bachelor season 2 cast?
The official cast hasn’t been released quite yet, but ABC did share an early look at the 25 women who could be competing to win over Mel Owens this season.
