Sam Asghari and Britney Spears kept things pretty private and low-key during their relationship, but this week Sam filed for divorce and immediately reports blew up about the former couple’s (allegedly messy) breakup. Britney and Sam married in June 2022 and started dating five months after shooting a music video together in 2016, and they called it quits in August 2023. Learn more about Britney’s soon-to-be ex-husband, below.

Sam plays the hot guy and said of their meeting on set, “It was the humbleness that attracted me. She was very humble and she had a beautiful soul.”

Sam Is Not Into Fame as a Career
Sam isn’t out here trying to be an influencer. He wants to be a professional actor, and as he put it to Men’s Health, “Fame is not a job. So I don’t want to take it too seriously. And I don’t think that’s ever going to change, to be honest. I don’t want to mess with my happiness or mess with my spirit. No fame in the world is worth that.”
Sam Immigrated as a Child From Iran
Sam moved from Iran when he was just 12, telling Men’s Health, “I had to leave my friends and family who I was very close with, and I knew I was moving away and never coming back.” He’s since been a vocal supporter of protests in his home country.
Sam Has a Few Acting Credits
Including, ahem: Doll Face, Black Monday, NCIS, Hacks (where he played a sexy Santa), Special Opps: Lioness, and Grand Death Lotto.
Important: Sam and Britney Have an Ironclad Prenup
Sources told TMZ long before the breakup that the couple has an “ironclad prenup,” which means Sam “doesn’t get a dollar” of Britney’s money. The outlet also reported she’ll “retain her entire fortune if things go south for her and Sam.” Since things have indeed gone south, this news may reassure fans, though Page Six claims Sam is threatening to go public with “embarrassing” information without concessions beyond the prenup. (Sam’s rep has since denied this.)
Before their divorce, Sam actually joked about the prenup on Instagram, writing, “Thank you for your concern about the prenup! Of course we’re getting ironclad prenup to protect my Jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day. 😂😂”
Sam and Britney didn’t combine their assets ahead of their marriage either, something Sam made clear to GQ when he said, “We do travel a lot and I am dating a girl that’s very expensive, she has an expensive taste but I do try to incorporate my lifestyle to her as well, and if it was up to me, we would cut down on the traveling and stay at a much cheaper hotel, and we would probably live off of $60 a day.” He added, “Because that’s what I can afford, yeah.”
Sam Is the One Who Confirmed the Divorce
On August 17, he confirmed his and Britney’s breakup, writing:
“After 6 years of love and commitment to each other, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together. We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always. Shit happens. Asking for privacy seems ridiculous so I will just ask for everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful.”
