I don’t know about you, but after a long winter, I’m ready to wear some fabulous, dramatic clothes and bask in the sunshine. Luckily for me, when designers dreamed up their wares for spring 2024, they had the exact same idea in mind. Fashion weeks across New York, Paris, London, and Milan in September 2023 gave us so many pretty—and statement-making—things to look forward to. And now? Those things are available to purchase, which means it’s finally our time!

text, whiteboard

In case you missed the runway shows back in September (what, you didn’t fly to Paris to see Loewe’s cape cardigans in person?), allow me to jog your memory. Essentially, designers wanted us to embrace some nostalgia (ahem: low rise jeans) and there were some overall surprising returns from a few silhouettes we weren’t sure we wanted to see again. Yes, that means peplum is back. For anyone who remembers wearing business casual to the club in 2011, let me promise you: It’s not going to be like that again! The spring 2024 take on the little midriff flounce is much more modern, thank goodness.

Moving on. Designers knew we would want boldness from March onward, so obviously they gave us more fringe, but extra sparkly and extra embellished this time. Please just look at how the lime-green jacket below moves and tell me you don’t want to have it on your body immediately? Then, of course, our skirts are going shorter than ever and truthfully I love that for us and our legs.

But it’s not all glitz and party attire—we’ve got tons of creative ways to wear sweats happening this season and also some really gorgeous draping situations. I could talk about this for hours, but honestly, you just have to start looking at some of these trends, because they’re too beautiful to gatekeep anymore! Scroll on to get your fill of the clothing trends you’re about to see everywhere this spring, and then hop on over to what’s hot in bags, jewelry, and shoes. Spring has sprung!

Yes, I Said Peplum

Whether you’re down for it or not, peplum is coming for you, and it actually is going to look so stunning. Like, excuse me to the black maxi peplum skirt pictured right above and below here??? The audacity to look this good!!! I, for one, think I’m ready for this comeback story, so don’t mind me as I start shopping. Feel free to join!

Fringe-Worthy

Alright, I’m supposed to talk about how fringe is the number one girl in the group, and I’ll get there, but first I’d like to take a moment to properly acknowledge this green goddess dressing jacket right here. The bold color! The delicate beaded details that move just so!

It’s clear that fringe has earned its place on this list. And designers are using it to make the most head-turning, jaw-dropping skirts, dresses, jackets and more in spring 2024! Fringe for president!

The pandemic gave us much terribleness and trauma, no doubt. Is it too soon to say that maybe the only upside was all the innovation that happened in the soft-pants department? And how it made it okay for many of us who previously never would have gone out of the house wearing them to do just that? Designers really said, “Wear sweats with everything in spring 2024 or else!” And you know what? Fine, I’ll fall in line.

That Skirt Is Tiiiiny

As in micro-mini. As in postage-stamp-sized. Leave a little less room in your closet for hemlines this year, folks, and a lot more room for legs. Yes, this season’s party pieces are ripe for dress code violations, but luckily, we don’t recognize that patriarchal bullshit around here anyway. So let’s shop the shortest skirts and dresses possible, shall we? Here we go.

All Draped Up

It’s giving elevated Grecian in the modern age! Designers have a knack for getting the fabric they use just so, with the bunching and rouching in all the right places to make a ’fit super striking. The talent! I can’t wait to wear this trend to the approximately 1,000 weddings filling up my calendar this summer. I know you’re thinking the same thing, so go ahead and shop with me!
