November marks two years since the shuttering of Hollywood’s most infamous and parasitic conservatorship. We’re of course talking about Britney Spears, one of music history’s most iconic, talented, and profitable artists who, since February 2008, was locked in a cruelly opportunistic conservatorship with her father, Jamie Spears, and her attorney, Andrew Wallet.

At the time of Spears’ conservatorship hearings in 2021, this story was seeded into every facet of media, from documentaries to op-eds, none of which came from Spears herself. During the time that she was under her conservatorship, communication was highly limited, keeping Spears and her truth so far from the public square (read: the internet) and allowing her abusers to continue working in the shadows.

In 2019, whispers of Spears’ reality began coming to light, leading to the formation of the #FreeBritney movement in 2020. In 2021, Spears appeared in court and recounted her experience of coercion and abuse, beginning the legal march towards personal and career freedom. On November 12, the conservatorship was officially terminated, and by February 2022, Spears had signed one of the biggest book deals in literary history for her memoir, “The Woman in Me.” The book, which sold for a whopping $15 million, will be in the hands of supporters, speculators, media, and exes (more on that later), on October 24.

The PR-machine is rocking and rolling, and as such, there are already some things that we know. In the most shocking news that landed ahead of the memoir’s release, Spears revealed a 20-years held secret, that she underwent an abortion while in a relationship with Justin Timberlake. In the book, she calls the experience “one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life.”

Throughout the book, Spears also gives her take on some of the most talked about moments of her career (which she was never able to speak on previously) including her 2003 interview with Diane Sawyer, the year of the shaved head, the ever-iconic 2001 VMAs performance, partying with Paris Hilton, and more.

Where Can I Buy The Woman in Me?

The memoir will be available for purchase anywhere books are sold, and we encourage you to shop local! That said, speed is a factor here. The buzz around this book is sure to be everywhere, because it already is. “The Woman in Me”is available for purchase on Amazon, both in hard copy and Kindle e-book. Checkmate, Bezos.

Alternatively, the book will also be available on Audible and narrated by none other than Oscar-nominated actress Michelle Williams.
