Happy Friday Selinators! Selena Gomez‘s highly-anticipated new track just dropped, and it’s giving G.N.O.’s, iconic Y2K ‘fits, and—above all else—a very single girl summer. Ahem, let’s refer to the following lyrics, shall we? We shall: “I’m pickin’ out this dress / Tryin’ on these shoes / ‘Cause I’ll be single soon / I’ll be single soon / I know he’ll be a mess / When I break the news / But I’ll be single soon / I’ll be single soon.” Consider the mic dropped, people!

Towards the beginning of the song, which is v appropriately titled “Single Soon,” the singer confesses that she has one thing on her mind: letting her boyfriend know that she’s moving on so she can focus on her freedom. And focus on her freedom she does, as she puts on a shimmering dress, heads out clubbing with her friends, and toasts to a new beginning.

Just yesterday, the singer posted a sneak peek of her latest track’s accompanying music video with an assist from her 10-year-old sister Gracie Teefey, who says in a voicemail, “Hi. Love you, sissy. Never worry about boyfriends—at all.” Honestly, not to be dramatic but Gracie might just be the wisest 10-year-old out there ¯_(ツ)_/¯.

A few days prior to the teaser, on August 17, Sel first revealed that she was dropping the banger via an Instagram post that read, “Y’all have been asking for new music for a while. Since I’m not quite done with SG3, I wanted to put out a fun little song I wrote a while back that’s perfect for the end of summer. SINGLE SOON. August 25th. Presave it now. 😘”

Fans everywhere went wild after the announcement, and to say that the celeb delivered is a serious understatement.

Even Hulu seems to be a fan, with this Tweet that references Sel’s show Only Murders in the Building. Tbh, their social media manager needs a raise for this ASAP:

Anyway, definitely go ahead and listen to this song and devour the M/V for yourself! Oh, and follow along with the official lyrics below (P.S. Definitely make sure to catch that OMG-worthy ending, too 😉):

[Verse 1]

Should I do it on the phone?

Should I leave a little note

In the pocket of his coat? (Yeah)

Maybe I’ll just disappear

I don’t wanna see a tear

And the weekend’s almost here

[Chorus]

I’m pickin’ out this dress

Tryin’ on these shoes

‘Cause I’ll be single soon

I’ll be single soon

I know he’ll be a mess

When I break the news

But I’ll be single soon

I’ll be single soon

[Post-Chorus]

I’ma date who I wanna

Stay out late if I wanna

I’ma do what I wanna do

I’m pickin’ out this dress

Tryin’ on these shoes

‘Causе I’ll be single soon

I’ll be singlе soon

[Verse 2]

I know I’m a little high-maintenance

But I’m worth a try

Might not give a reason why (Oh well)

We both had a lot of fun

Time to find another one

Blame it all on feelin’ young

[Chorus]

I’m pickin’ out this dress

Tryin’ on these shoes

‘Cause I’ll be single soon

I’ll be single soon

I know he’ll be a mess

When I break the news

But I’ll be single soon

I’ll be single soon

[Post-Chorus]

I’ma date who I wanna

Stay out late if I wanna

I’ma do what I wanna do

I’m pickin’ out this dress

Tryin’ on these shoes

‘Cause I’ll be single soon

I’ll be single soon

[Bridge]

Yeah, I’ll be single soon

Yeah, I’ll be single soon

Yeah, I’ll be single soon

Yeah, I’ll be single soon

[Chorus]

I’m pickin’ out this dress

Tryin’ on these shoes

‘Cause I’ll be single soon

I’ll be single soon

I know he’ll be a mess

When I break the news

But I’ll be single soon

I’ll be single soon

[Post-Chorus]

I’ma date who I wanna

Stay out late if I wanna

I’ma do what I wanna do

I’m pickin’ out this dress

Tryin’ on these shoes

‘Cause I’ll be single soon

I’ll be single soon

[Outro]

Well, who’s next?
