Selena Gomez has been at the center of some wild dating rumors in the past few years—see: Zayn Malik, Chris Evans, Jeremy Allen White—and she just reacted to the latest round of the mill. Instagram account @popfactions published several posts tying Selena to her longtime friend and music producer, Benny Blanco:
^ This carousel was posted on December 4, and Selena seemingly confirmed she was in a relationship by dropping a comment on the post on December 7. “Facts,” the Rare Beauty founder wrote.
The post includes a clip of Selena admitting she has a crush during an episode of Selena + Chef: Home for the Holidays. “I also have a crush on someone, so I’m kind of really happy,” she said in the episode, which was likely filmed a few months ago. A screenshot of Sel supporting the release of Benny’s new cookbook was also featured in another slide.
Naturally, fans hit the comments section of the post with their ~thoughts~ on the entire sitch, and although it’s just a rumor, Selena defended her connection with the producer—be it platonic or something more. Per PopCrave, the Grammy nominee wrote, “He is my absolute everything in my heart.”
“Lol yeah and he’s still better than anyone I’ve ever been with. Facts,” Sel added.
She also clapped back at criticism with another comment. “I don’t understand. If you actually care about me. This is my happiest,” she started. “If you don’t feel free to say whatever you want. But I will never allow your words to guide my life. Ever. I’m done. if you can’t accept me at my happiest then don’t be in [my] life at all.”
Selena and Benny seemingly go back a few years before the rumors ensued. They crossed ~professional paths~ in 2018, when they collaborated on “I Can’t Get Enough” with J Balvin:
Benny also attended Selena’s Inaugural Rare Impact Fund Benefit Supporting Youth Mental Health in October 2023, where he reportedly placed bids on Eras Tour tickets.
Aside from Selena’s Instagram comments, there’s no confirmation about the current status of her ‘ship with Benny.
