‘Kay, so today in “When will Kate Middleton be seen in public?!?!” (a question that appears to be occupying quite a lot of the internet’s time), it seems as though the answer is…not anytime soon. Or, at least, not at Trooping the Colour in June.
To rewind real quick: Yesterday (March 5), fans noticed the Ministry of Defense’s website had announced that Trooping the Colour would be “reviewed by Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales” on June 8, 2024.
Additionally, the event’s overview mentioned Kate’s presence multiple times. Ahem:
- “Trooping the Colour reviewed by Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales is identical to Trooping the Colour reviewed by His Majesty The King.”
- “Trooping the Colour reviewed by Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales also includes 250 soldiers from the Foot Guards.”
- “The soldiers will be inspected by Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales, Colonel Irish Guards.”
Cut to today, and the website—in addition to the overview—no longer has any information about Kate. Oh, and her photo on the site’s landing page has also been completely removed. This comes after Telegraph royal reporter Victoria Ward tweeted, “It seems the MoD jumped the gun with this announcement and that Kensington Palace was not consulted…we will have to wait to see if the PoW will be well enough to attend.”
Meanwhile, Rebecca English of the Daily Mail noted that Kate *could* attend Trooping the Colour, but her attendance—along with that of King Charles’—will likely be “confirmed nearer the time.”
Sooo….this has been an update!
