Kate Middleton has officially “broken her silence,” aka released her first statement since her planned abdominal surgery back in January. And, naturally, people have already found a reason to spiral.
The Prince and Princess of Wales released a picture of Kate posing with her kids (Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis) on Mother’s Day in the UK—with a caption written by Kate herself.
“Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months,” she wrote. “Wishing everyone a Happy Mother’s Day. C.”
Pretty chill/casual, but people immediately noticed that Kate wasn’t wearing her engagement or wedding ring in the photo.
According to Town & Country’s reporting, a Palace source was asked why Kate isn’t wearing her rings in the photo, and they “pointed out that the Princess was at home, and the picture was taken by her husband.”
Sooo, that’s that on that! But FYI before we go, the Palace has released several on-the-record responses to the conspiracy theories surrounding Kate—including telling Page Six at the end of February that, “Kensington Palace made it clear in January the timelines of the princess’ recovery and we’d only be providing significant updates. That guidance stands.”
More recently, Prince William’s rep told People that “His focus is on his work and not on social media.”
As for when Kate is expected to return to public engagements, Kensington Palace said that”Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”
