Prince Harry and Prince William recently put aside their drama and came together to honor the Queen following her death—starting with a joint appearance at Windsor Castle to view flowers from well-wishers. But apparently the moment was pretty awk behind the scenes.

According to a People source, “It was awkward. Both couples found it hard. They were in a stoic spirit of just getting through it for the Queen.”

Prince William and Prince Harry were joined by their wives Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle for the outing, and Kensington Palace said at the time that William organized it. Though a source previously told Us Weekly that it “wasn’t an easy decision.”

“In the end, [William] elected to [invite them] because it was agreed amongst all of them that this very much the appropriate thing to do,” the source said. “For all of their differences in the past, many of which still linger, this was what the Queen would have wanted and William knew very well that it was no time to be holding onto grudges or distancing himself from his brother. They needed to put on a united front and pay their respects for her sake as well as the monarchy as a whole and the people she served so tirelessly during her reign.”

Meanwhile, The Telegraph reported that William was “dismayed” that so much coverage was focused on “Harry and Meghan’s movements on the day Queen Elizabeth died rather than the magnitude of her passing.” A source at the time said “Both he and the Princess of Wales felt that the focus should solely be on this period of deep mourning and nothing else. That the focus should only be on his late grandmother.”
