Nathan Fillion Speaks Out as ‘The Rookie’ Receives Exciting News About Its Future on ABC

Fans of The Rookie, it looks like we’re getting another round of adventures from the folks working at LAPD Mid-Wilshire!

Ahead of the latest episode of season 6, which airs on Tuesday, April 30 on ABC, the network surprised fans with an announcement many were waiting for. In an exciting reveal made by Variety on April 15, fans learned The Rookie got renewed for season 7 and will be back sometime during the 2024-2025 TV season. What’s more, the outlet shared the show is currently riding a wave of success, as the season premiere on February 20 delivered “11.9 million viewers across all platforms in the Live+35 ratings, its best viewership since 2018.”

If that wasn’t enough to excite folks, the show went on Instagram to confirm the news with their followers. “🚨 #TheRookie will be coming back for a 7th season on ABC and Stream on Hulu! 🚨,” read the official caption.

Naturally, as The Rookie has developed a major following over the years, it didn’t take long for viewers to rejoice over new episodes coming their way.

“Congratulations ❤️ Love The Rookie best show on TV ❤️❤️❤️❤️,” one person declared in the comments. “THIS IS WHAT THE BEST SHOW IN THE WORLD DESERVES EVERYBODY CHEER,” another screamed. “Yes Can’t wait 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤❤❤,” a different follower added.

So, how does the cast of The Rookie feel about the show coming back for season 7? Well, when Nathan Fillion (who plays John Nolan) shared a screenshot of the Deadline announcement on Instagram, he expressed his gratitude for those who continue to tune in every week on ABC.

“It’s a good feeling to have work,” he wrote on April 16. “It’s even better to be able to take pride in that work. If you are among those who are enjoying The Rookie, we owe you our thanks.
