Meghan Markle made a rare red carpet appearance at Variety‘s 2023 Power of Women event on Thursday night, showing up solo on the carpet and looking stunning in a Proenza Schouler dress.
The event was packed with celebs, including Dua Lipa, Margot Robbie, and Billie Eilish, and honestly, it was great to see Meghan chilling with her industry peers! Especially as she and Prince Harry are moving into production / bringing the novel Meet Me at the Lake to Netflix.
Meghan’s outing on Thursday night comes amid royal author Omid Scobie telling People that the Duchess has “moved on” from the royal family.
Speaking about his new book Endgame, which details the lives of the royals, Scobie explained that, “Quite early on in the [book-writing] process, some of those Meghan sources that I really leant on in the earlier years this time were like, ‘You know what? She doesn’t want anything to do with it.’ For Harry it’s different. He still has unfinished business when it comes to his battles with the press. His challenge will be to find something that balances that out so we can see him working in a space that isn’t connected to the ties that bind from the past.”
That said, Scobie also noted that Meghan and Harry are reportedly doing their best to be in touch with the royals—on their terms: “With Harry, there’s a reluctant acceptance that this is just who his father is. He would rather have that in his life than to cut it off completely. Hence, when they talk it is often [Harry] reaching out. And I was surprised to learn that even Meghan has some sort of correspondence with Charles, sending over photos of the children, although they’re not directly to him. So there is a willingness there.”
Either way, love to see Meghan thriving over in California!
