Demi Lovato’s ex-fiancé Max Ehrich has denied association with a random Instagram account using his name to post about Demi Lovato.

The account in question made the rounds last night due to its many, many emo musings about Demi’s recent engagement. And while there was some momentary speculation that Max was, in fact, behind it, he shut these claims down on his verified Instagram.

“I am aware of the fake pages that were created to post fabricated and cruel messages about a truly joyful occasion in Demi’s life, a moment that should only be celebrated,” Max wrote via Notes App on December 20 at 6:45 PM. “That chapter of our shared lives was closed peacefully and privately a long time ago. I only want the best for everyone and from the bottom of my heart I truly wish them a lifetime of peace and happiness.”

Max ended his post saying, “I ask respectfully to be removed from this narrative and for the fake accounts and posts to cease having any relevance. Thank you and God bless.”

Demi hasn’t responded to this post, but joked about their engagement while hosting the People’s Choice Awards back in 2020:

“This year has been the longest three years of my life. Don’t get me wrong, it started out amazing. I performed at the Grammys and sung the national anthem at the Super Bowl. But then COVID-19 hit and everything shut down, so I did what everyone else did. I went into lockdown mode. And got engaged. Got into painting. Photography. Meditation. Tested the limits of PostMates unlimited. Also, didn’t know this could happen, but I reached the end of Instagram four times. I binged seven seasons of Pretty Little Liars, got un-engaged, and then I went looking for aliens in the desert, so basically the same as everyone else.”
