The year was 2006. “Temperature” by Sean Paul was playing at every party. Baby doll dresses reigned supreme. You wore Uggs, and not in a cool way. Meanwhile, Matthew and Camila were busy clubbing in Hollywood, where they happened to be in the same place at the same time.

“She showed up, and she moved right to left in front of my eyes across that club. It was as if she was floating. And I did not say, ‘Who is that?’ I said, ‘What is that?’ And then introduced myself. Matthew and Camila grace the cover of Southern Living, where they dish all about how they met and when they made the permanent move to Matthew’s home state of Texas.
“We were living a happy life in Malibu,” Camila said of the early days of their life together after meeting in a West Hollywood nightclub where Matthew was shaking margaritas in 2006. “We had a beautiful house that we’d built together and put a lot of love and care into. We were raising our kids there. I was growing everything in the yard. I had bees making honey.”
The couple then decided to make the move to West Texas. After they visited Matthew’s mom, they were stopped at a red light and Camila asked, “You want to move here, don’t you?” Matthew’s response? A simple “Yep,” which prompted Camila to jokingly say, “‘You son of a bitch.'”
“As soon as I chuckled, the light turned green and we pulled out,” Matthew recalled, and then Camila said, ‘Let’s do it.'” Truly love this Texas life for them!
