Ready for the next installment in the saga of Gigi Hadid and Leonardo DiCaprio’s nebulous, ever-changing sorta-ship? Since they were first linked in September, Gigi and Leo have, at various times, reportedly been “smitten,” “just friends,” publicly inseparable, over-ish, and just plain over. It’s been a RIDE.

The latest reports about their romance have been trending positive, with sources close to the pair claiming they were in a “no-strings situationship” in mid-June and Us Weekly reporting this week that, while they’re still keeping things label-free, Gigi and Leo are only seeing each other at the moment. The Us Weekly source even went so far as to imply Leo sees the potential for a real, serious future with Gigi. Even with zero additional details about what that potential might be for (marriage? Kids? A joint Vogue cover?), we’re talking about a guy whose infamous Not The Settling Down Type reputation has even been immortalized in a Taylor Swift lyric.

“They’re only seeing each other right now,” a source Us Weekly. “It’s [still] casual, and they aren’t labeling it, [but] they’re dating [again]. Leo wants to take it slower with Gigi because there’s potential there, and he wants to preserve it.”

But that was July 13 and a lot can happen in a day, apparently, because by July 14, a source (maybe a different one? Maybe the same one? They’re both anonymous so ¯_(ツ)_/¯) was stressing to Us Weekly that Leo still isn’t the settling down type and that his closest friends don’t expect him to *ever* get married or “fully settle down.”

“Leo is living his best life and he’s one of the happiest people [his friends] know,” July 14 report’s source said. “He has a very fulfilled life and enjoys the comforts of doing as he pleases anywhere or anytime. Some of those in Leo’s inner circle are convinced he’ll never fully settle down and get married. However, they’re not concerned about him finding the right one.”

The source then made it seem like casual dating is pretty much close to the top of Leo’s commitment level comfort zone and said the actor is “totally content with maintaining a bachelor lifestyle” and not worried about settling down. And that’s a vibe he doesn’t hide at all, because the source added that Leo’s “friends would be really surprised if he actually ever did decide to get married.”

Message received.
