There are some rom-com scenes you just don’t forget—like when Keira Knightley reads those giant cue cards in Love Actually, or Billy Crystal confessing his love to Meg Ryan on New Year’s Eve in When Harry Met Sally. This week, Katherine Heigl re-created another of our favorite romantic-comedy moments: a memorable scene from 2008’s 27 Dresses.
The revival took place at the 2023 Emmys after-party hosted by Netflix, when DJ Benjamin Walker put on “Bennie and the Jets.” In case you’ve forgotten, Katherine famously dances to the 1974 Elton John hit in 27 Dresses, when her character gets drinks with James Marsden’s. As the song progresses (and the two get tipsier), they start dancing to it on top of the bar.
Sixteen years later, Katherine’s moves are just as good as they were in the film. Walker posted about the moment on his Instagram account: “I love a good rom-com so when i saw @katherineheigl, I knew IMMEDIATELY there was one song to end the night and one song only…. #IYKYK #27dresses.” The DJ also shared a clip of the Grey’s Anatomy alum dancing, which you can watch here.
In the video, we see Katherine boogying in her custom Reem Acra dress. The vibrant red gown featured a heart-shaped neckline that was actually two layered pieces of fabric. Along the waist, the dress was decorated with a silver brooch, which matched the Firefly Lane star’s choker necklace. This year was the actor’s first appearance at the Emmys since 2014; she presented the award for Outstanding Supporting Male Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
