Pop culture icon and living legend Julia Fox is out here promoting her new memoir Down the Drain—which she once described as “a masterpiece”—and is truly delivering look after look.
Which brings us to the outfit Julia wore on October 12: a deconstructed cottagecore look that consisted of a smocked crop-top blouse and a pair of bloomers with ruffled underwear over it. Idk about you, but methinks the million-dollar question is…if you aren’t wearing your underwear over your pants, what are you even doing?

BTW, if you think Julia used a ghostwriter to pen Down the Drain, think again. As she put it on TikTok, “Just so we’re clear, I wrote every single word in this book. I designed the cover, I creative directed the photoshoot. This is all me, baby!”

She also told the New York Times, “I’ve had people be like: ‘Off record, between you and I, did you use a ghostwriter? Did somebody help you?’ It’s kind of offensive. I wouldn’t make that statement if there were some ghostwriter out in the world—that feels really stupid. It goes back to people always underestimating me or not taking me seriously. What else is new?”
Anyway, now that Julia’s memoir is out, she has a ton of other projects coming up, but at the end of the day, she really just wants to write more. “Ultimately my goal is to fade into obscurity and write scripts, develop movies, TV shows, maybe children’s books,” she explained. “I would like to be able to hole up somewhere and write at my leisure.”
