The Color Purple star Halle Bailey got vulnerable with her fans when talking about her pregnancy, admitting that she was uncomfortable about all of the speculative comments she would receive.
After the 23-year-old officially announced the birth of her son, Halo, to the world earlier this month, she took to Snapchat for a Q&A session.
One fan asked Bailey if she was bothered by the internet’s constant comments on whether or not she was pregnant.
“I mean, it was a little bit [stressful], but honestly I stayed off all social media or tried to,” she replied.
Bailey went on to tell viewers that she would get a lot of “we know” comments on her posts.
“I’d be like, it’s great that you know, but I’m just going to chill,” she said. “That’s wonderful if you support me, and if not, that’s okay too. I hope you have a wonderful life,” she added.
Bailey announced Halo’s arrival in an Instagram post shared on January 6. In the caption, she wrote, “even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son.. welcome to the world my halo 🥰👼🏽 ✨the world is desperate to know you 😉🤣♥️.”
Bailey shares her son with her boyfriend, 26-year-old rapper DDG. The couple first sparked dating rumors in January 2022 after they were seen at an Usher concert together, and they made their first public appearance in June at the 2022 BET awards.
