Gwyneth Paltrow gave a rare glimpse into how she really feels about ex-husband Chris Martin’s girlfriend, Dakota Johnson—and it’s all love. During an Instagram Live Q&A on October 5, Gwyneth gushed about her relationship with the Persuasion star, who’s been dating Chris for five years.

“We’re actually very good friends,” Gwyneth said. “I love her so much. She’s an adorable, wonderful person.”

This isn’t the first time Gwyneth has shown love to Dakota, though. The duo was photographed together at Gucci’s Love Parade fashion show at the Hollywood Walk of Fame in November 2021, and in 2019, the Goop founder posted a sweet tribute to Dakota for her 30th birthday. “Happy 30th birthday to this absolute gem 💙,” Gwyneth wrote alongside a black and white pic of Dakota and her dog. So presh!

Gwyneth and the Coldplay frontman were married for 11 years before separating in 2014. The couple shares two children, Apple and Moses Martin, together. According to E! News, Dakota and Chris spent last Thanksgiving on the East Coast with Gwyneth, their children, and her new husband, Brad Falchuk.

In a 2020 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Gwyneth opened up about welcoming Dakota into the Paltrow-Martin fam. “I love her. I can see how it would seem weird because it’s sort of unconventional. But I think, in this case, just having passed through it iteratively, I just adore her,” Gwyneth said. “I always start to think of the ampersand sign—what else can you bring in, instead of being resistant to or being made insecure by? There’s so much juice in leaning into something like that.”
