preview for 7 of Today’s Leading Supermodels

If you’re not wearing your best friend’s merch, are you really best friends?

Gigi Hadid did just that on a recent outing in New York City, where she had a fun layering moment that relied on bright and pastel colors. The supermodel wore a chocolate-brown leather moto jacket over a sky-blue knit cardigan—which eagle-eyed fans have identified as the 1989 (Taylor’s Version) cardigan, merch that Hadid’s BFF Taylor Swift dropped in honor of the rerelease of her hit album last week. In addition to the vibrant cardigan, Hadid also wore a basic white T-shirt and a long scarf covered in lime green, orange, gray, and light brown stripes.

To finish off the look, the Guest in Residence founder also wore a pair of black straight-leg jeans and black leather loafers. She further accessorized with oval tortoiseshell sunglasses, gold drop earrings, a gold chain charm necklace, and a gold watch (which she expertly styled on top of her cardigan sleeve).

Hadid isn’t afraid of embracing color in her off-duty style. For instance, on another New York outing last month, she wore a mustard-yellow collared jumpsuit, featuring tortoiseshell buttons, boxy pockets, and a drawstring waist. She coordinated the look with a striped yellow and navy blue beanie, caramel Ugg boots, a black and white Prada shoulder bag, and black sunglasses.

“My goal in life is to look as chic or put together as possible while always being comfortable,” Hadid told Harper’s Bazaar in a 2022 interview. “I very rarely, even on red carpets, will wear things that I feel uncomfortable in throughout the event because I just feel like I can’t be myself as much when I’m thinking about what I’m wearing in that way.”
