It’s time to Sissy That Walk in one of the biggest fashion capitals in the world. RuPaul’s Drag Race season 16 is kicking things off with the ultimate party that is only fit for these queens.
Cosmopolitan is exclusively revealing that RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16 Premiere Extravaganza will feature a fashion show where the queens will walk down the runway in front of hundreds of fans in NYC. Those in attendance will also get the first sneak peek at the brand-new season before anyone else.
Basically, if you ever wanted to see a runway challenge IRL, this is finally your chance!
According to MTV, “The queens will be dazzling attendees with brand new, exclusive looks made for this first ever fashion show premiere event that will bring the iconic RuPaul’s Drag Race runway to life, giving fans an immersive show experience.”
Judge Michelle Visage will be hosting the big event on January 4, 2024, at Hammerstein Ballroom. There will also be some surprise celebrity guests as well as fun activations that will certainly bring a lot more of the show’s moments to life.
“Fans will also get an exclusive sneak peek at the first episode of Season 16, which will feature the iconic talent show as the Maxi Challenge (which is themed as MTV’s Spring Break) and a gag worthy twist following the talent show performances, where the queens will be tasked to “Rate-A-Queen” – ranking each other’s performances to determine the tops and bottoms of that week,” MTV revealed to Cosmopolitan.
Season 16 features 14 brand-new queens who are competing to be America’s Next Drag Superstar: Amanda Tori Meating (Los Angeles, CA), Dawn (Brooklyn, NY), Geneva Karr (Brownsville, TX), Hershii Liqcour-Jeté (Los Angeles, CA), Megami (Brooklyn, NY), Mhi’ya Iman Le’Paige (Miami, FL), Mirage (Las Vegas, NV), Morphine Love Dion (Miami, FL), Nymphia Wind (Taiwan/NY), Plane Jane (Boston, MA), Plasma (New York, NY), Q (Kansas City, MO), Sapphira Cristál (Philadelphia, PA), and Xunami Muse (New York, NY).
The special NYC event is hosted by ViiV Healthcare and produced and designed by New York-based creative event and content production company Barlow & Sons.
