Success did not happen overnight for Cleopatra Adelodun, but her resilience kept her focused on rising above a life of struggle to live her dream. Born and raised in Nigeria, Cleopatra migrated to the US to rebuild her life after losing her sister and spouse soon after.
A real estate broker, investor, and founder of Selling Dallas Real Estate, Cleopatra not only shares the same name as the iconic Queen of Egypt, but also inspires women as a symbol of feminine power.
With the strength of the rising phoenix inside her, first, it was pain that Cleopatra experienced, then an explosion of flames, before the ash finally gave way to a renewed version of herself.
The real estate queen describes her life as once “hopeless,” coming from a tight knight community with not much to her name. She saw firsthand how people struggled to realize the American dream of home ownership, which prompted her to learn the ins and outs of the industry so she could become a resource for her community. But the road ahead was more difficult than she expected.
Upon joining real estate firms and seeking the support of fellow agents, Cleopatra found herself still struggling, and quickly realized that if a team lacks communication and support there is no way a realtor can achieve their fullest potential.
To elevate herself, Cleopatra sought mentorship from industry experts. Soon, she waved goodbye to her former self and stepped into a renewed version of a leader, empowered healer and fulfilled visionary – amid a global pandemic.
“In the middle of the pandemic, I knew I was either going to go down a rabbit hole, or I was going to rise above it,” Cleopatra shares.
When the pandemic hit, it revealed an agonizingly powerful epiphany of loneliness for all. But as the clouds of despair cleared over the horizon, the independent powerhouse embraced her inner light, not once looking back.
Cleopatra always knew she wanted to elevate her community, and building her own team would enable her to reach as many people as possible. Stepping out of her comfort zone, she networked with experts in the field to learn about lending, and took courses in real estate investing, fixing and flipping properties, REO and more.
Today, the first-generation immigrant who started her entrepreneurial journey with $700 in her bank account – is turning her family’s trajectory from barely making ends meet, to becoming a top 5 percent real estate earner in the country as the founder of Selling Dallas Real Estate.
“My children saw my struggles, the late nights studying or doing paperwork and even the tears,” she says. “But eventually, they saw the joys and successes too, and are now inspired because they know hard work pays off.”
When asked what the most difficult part of her journey was, Cleopatra says it was shutting out the negative inner voice and turning away from being a carrier of grief, to rising through resiliency. From positive affirmations to meditation and breathwork, Cleopatra turned inward and through the words of mentors like mindset coaches Natasha Graziano and Mike Zeller, switched on her inner flame and experienced an awakening like no other.
“Natasha taught me how to wake up in the morning with purpose,” affirms Cleopatra. “I was able to peel away layers of generational hardship, money problems, and not believing in myself to reveal a new me and change the trajectory of my lineage.”
After transforming her own life, the philanthropist at heart wanted to give back to those suffering from similar emotions.
“I love to give voice to women who have been through similar situations, and show them that they too, have the power to turn their lives around,” expresses Cleopatra. From being a single mother after losing the two closest people to her, to achieving paramount success in a brand new country, Cleopatra’s story shows us that anything is possible.
As she takes clients through the process, educating and guiding them each step of the way, questions and stress-related concerns soon disappear. From fixes and flips to helping new homeowners, sellers or serial investors Cleopatra successfully does it all.
“When you pick up the phone and talk to me, I give you more than you ask. I am a resource to my community, and I do it joyfully from the day that I say ‘hi’ to the day that I say, ‘here’s your key, or here’s your check,’” shares Cleopatra.
Besides leading with loyalties, her clients-turned-family-friend’s favor her fiery workflow because of the passion that pours out of the top-selling beacon of light.
“My mission is to elevate people’s lives while doing what I love,” she says. “I empower others to be the best version of themselves, and if lending a helping hand is needed, I give that too,” she adds.
