Dua Lipa is setting some new rules when it comes to the LBD. One: Throw out everything you thought you knew about the little black dress. Two: Don’t be afraid to go for a bold accessory. Three: Belts can be even better when they’re not around the waist.
The “Houdini” singer attended The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment gala on Thursday, December 7, where she wore a sophisticated strapless black dress by Tom Ford with a slit up the right side and a belt-like accessory wrapped around the top. It was a welcome twist on the LBD, and the statement belt included a hint of gold that added a pop of color to the design.
Dua’s elegant evening gown paired perfectly with her fiery hairdo, which she debuted back in October. After deleting all of her Instagram posts, the Grammy winner surprised her followers with the new color when she shared a selfie with a caption that read, “Miss me?”
Along with Camila Cabello, Lily Gladstone, and Billie Lourd, the Barbie star attended the Women in Entertainment gala to present $1 million in college scholarships to high school students from underserved communities in Los Angeles.
“I feel so lucky and so energized to be here with you guys this morning,” the 28-year-old remarked during her speech. “It just feels very very special to be here for such a wonderful initiative.”
During the event, Dua captured photos with a few other A-list attendees, including fellow singer-songwriter, Adele. When the “Levitating” singer posted the photo of her and Adele to Instagram, one comment noted, “A Dua-Adele collab would rupture the internet.”
Whether she was teasing new music collabs or simply making a bold fashion statement, Dua caught our eye regardless.
