Ethan Slater and Ariana Grande’s whole thing has become slightly (extremely) messy due to questions/confusion over the timing of Ethan’s breakup with his estranged wife Lilly Jay—but if you’re wondering how Ari’s ex Dalton Gomez is feeling…he wants Ari back!
Ariana and Dalton separated allllll the way back in January—and have both been dating other people. But apparently Dalton hasn’t given up on their marriage.
“Although Dalton knows Ariana has moved on with Ethan, he still hasn’t given up hope that they can make things work,” a source tells Us Weekly. “On one hand, Dalton wants to give Ariana her space, but on the other, he’s been trying to remain in contact with her.”
The source adds that “What they had was the real deal and he’s still coming to terms with the fact that they’ve split. His friends have been trying to set him up with people and although he’s been dating, he’s still holding out that him and Ariana will get back together.”
This follows an insider telling the outlet that Dalton “wanted the fairy tale, happy ending” and is “really hoping to make things work with Ariana.” They added that “Despite the rocky patches they’ve been through, he isn’t ready to give up on their marriage. He saw himself spending the rest of his life with Ariana and will do anything to get past this.”
At this point, neither Ariana, Dalton, nor Ethan have spoken out about everything going on—but Lilly Jay gave a quote to Page Six, saying “[Ariana’s] the story really. Not a girl’s girl. My family is just collateral damage.”
Truly just yikes at everything.
