A lot has been said about this “repairing essence” and “hydrating serum” from CosRX — I grabbed it during one of the sale days last year and have to say I’ve been pleasantly surprised.

I suppose I’m into hydrating serums — I’ve used squalane oil in the past, and got a hydrating serum at Trader Joe’s. Compared to those two things, I still think this one is better. It feels like moisturizing is locked in, and I actually like the way the product is a bit sticky/stringy if you rub it between your hands, I feel like that’s when you know it’s working!

You are supposed to be using this with wet skin, which was a bit problematic with the other layers of my morning routine. I wound up (perhaps incorrectly? I’m open to advice here!) doing my BHA first, then Vitamin C, then peptide spray if I was doing one, then this snail essence, then my moisturizer, then sunscreen. I’d just splash a few drops on my face before using this one to ensure that my skin was really wet.

Readers, what are your thoughts? (And: how many layers do you have to your skincare routine?)

The COSRX essence is under $20, at Amazon.
