If there’s one thing I really can’t stand, it’s being mansplained to. And although I love the Olympics just as much as any other rabid Simone Biles fan with little to no athletic talent, avoiding mansplaining gets particularly tough during the Olympic games. Thankfully, Peacock has provided us with a mansplaining fix: Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper is hosting weekly watch parties for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Whether you consider yourself a member of the Daddy gang or not, there’s really something to be said for watching a girliepop internet star (who was also a college athlete, and don’t you forget it!) knowledgeably yap during some of the most prominent team events of the Olympic games. Here’s why I’ll be tuning into every episode of Watch With Alex Cooper, plus where you can stream it throughout the rest of the games.

She explained the game in pop culture terms

On July 28, Watch With Alex Cooper covered the U.S. women’s soccer team’s match with Germany (which the U.S. won 4-1, btw). Do I know anything about soccer aside from the fact that I would rather watch women playing than men? I do not, but thankfully, Alex came to her own watch party prepared. One major highlight included her breaking down the history of the U.S. women’s soccer team in Taylor Swift eras, which is honestly how I now believe all history lessons ought to be taught. She also explained the stages of the Olympic soccer tournament in Love Island terms: in her words, “If you lose in the knockout round, Ariana Madix is showing up and telling you you’ve been voted off the island.”

Anecdotes aside, it was refreshing to watch a sporting event with internet brainrot girl-speak over it instead of the typical pundit banter. Unlike mansplaining, I will gladly listen to Alex Cooper say she’s “manifesting” a goal for the USWNT any day. And when she’s covering the women’s all-around gymnastics final on Thursday, you know I would rather hear her commentating on Suni Lee and Simone Biles than any random dude.

She brought on some iconic guests

When I tell you I’ve never known the identity of a single talking head on any sports coverage before, I am so serious. But Watch With Alex Cooper was different, because Alex brought on everyone from Andy Cohen to Glennon Doyle and Abby Wambach to chat through the details of the Olympic games, women’s soccer, and even Olympic fashion. Technically, sports are reality television, so it only makes sense that the king of Bravo would be on this watch party, right?! In all seriousness, it meant a lot to see names and faces that even the athletically illiterate gals (present!) can recognize.

Though we don’t know the exact schedule of Watch With Alex Cooper until further elimination rounds are completed, we do know that she’ll be covering women’s gymnastics and basketball at the very least. Personally, I’m hoping to see her chat with Aly Raisman over the women’s gymnastics all-around, and perhaps one of our favorite NCAA women’s basketball stars from this year during the basketball final. And if the TikTok girlies don’t see her yap with breakout rugby star Ilona Maher at some point, I know they’ll be bummed.

She pulled out her college athlete know-how

Just in case you thought for a second that the Unwell Network founder isn’t qualified to be commentating on the Olympic games, Alex brought out her knowledge of the history of the USWNT and soccer itself this week. This was particularly clear as she thoughtfully explained (while munching on french fries) why USWNT star striker Alex Morgan was left off the 2024 Olympic roster to those of us who were shocked by the news in spite of, again, knowing nothing about soccer. “Emma Hayes knows it’s time for a new generation,” she said. Once I figured out that Emma Hayes is the USWNT manager, I realized just how smart (and beyond qualified) “father” really is.

Of course, Alex played soccer, so she’s not going to know everything about every sport—but that’s also part of the fun. Knowing her for the girlboss she is, I’m sure she’ll brush up on each sport before her live streams.

When and Where to Stream Watch With Alex Cooper

Since it’s the year to start hardcore tuning into women’s sports, you might as well tune into a woman covering them, too! The next Watch With Alex Cooper is coming this Thursday on Peacock at 12:15pm ET during the women’s gymnastics all-around event. Further livestream details will come as the elimination rounds for each event progress, so keep your eye on any women’s sporting event where the U.S. team is doing well! Personally, I can’t wait to be womansplained to again.
