POV: Nicki Minaj just released Pink Friday. No, it isn’t 2010—the reigning Queen of Rap just dropped a sequel to her record-breaking major label debut. As if it could get any better, the record includes features with Drake, Lil Wayne, Lil Uzi Vert, and Billie Eilish.
The artists—who were both recently nominated at the 2023 Grammys thanks to their work on the Barbie soundtrack—joined forces for another musical moment on Nicki’s latest album. The “What Was I Made For?” singer is featured on the opening track, “Are You Gone Already,” through a 50-second sample of her 2019 hit, “When the Party’s Over.”
Per PopCrave, Nicki confirmed Billie’s involvement on the album hours before it dropped on December 8. Ahead of its official release, Barbz and Billie superfans gushed over the duo on Twitter.
“I’m gagging so hard OMGGG,” one fan wrote while another chimed in, “I’m a huge fan of both artists, so this collaboration is going to be incredible.”
On December 3, Nicki teased that “someone added their genius touch” to the track before Billie’s involvement was made public. The “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” rapper added that it took her nearly a year to finish the song. “I ran from it. Couldn’t stop crying. You’ll hear me say the date that I wrote the 2nd verse of the song. ON the song,” Nicki wrote on Twitter, adding that it’s her “absolute best intro” for an album.
Now, if you’ll ~excuse me~, I’m going to simultaneously cry and shake some goodies along to “Are You Gone Already.” 🥲💖
