Addison Rae has already proved she’s more than your average TikTok girlie— she’s ventured out into the beauty space with Item Beauty and Addison Rae Fragrances, released her own Y2K-inspired fashion doll, and is set to star in some movies thanks to a creative partnership with Netflix. In 2021, she dropped the cheeky pop single, “Obsessed,” which proved there’s interest in Addison’s music career as it’s racked up more than 50 million streams on Spotify. So naturally, her next step was to drop an entire project of bubblegum pop bangers, right?

Fast-forward two years—Addison hit the studio and cooked up infectious songs that call back to Britney Spears‘ and Lady Gaga‘s influences, and she even worked with pop pioneer Charli XCX, who credits her as a “great popstar” with “great lyric concepts.” Addison’s tracks made up a “lost album” that eventually leaked online, and stan Twitter (myself included 🫣) found themselves begging the star to formally drop the songs, including the TikTok-viral “2 Die 4” and “I Got It Bad.”

Now the day has come. Addison has officially released these two tracks, along with two others, on streaming platforms. She shared a sweet message with fans to explain why she made the move now.

“Before I can move on to my next chapter in music, here’s a little sign off to my previous one. A few of you may have heard these songs after they were unfortunately leaked last year.. but if you loved them, now you can listen to them on all streaming platforms!!! Ahhh!! If you haven’t heard them, I hope you take a listen and they make you dance!!” she wrote in her caption.

As you give AR a spin, dive into the glittery production and playful lyrics of this musical chapter. Ahead, find the full lyrics meaning for Addison Rae’s collaboration with Charli XCX, “2 Die 4.”

[Verse 1: Addison Rae]

Far from home, gettin’ close

And the music takes us further out into the unknown

In the dark, in the zone

I just texted you my address, save my name in your phone

From the jump, this song oozes flirtatious vibes as Addison connects with someone at a party and gives them her number and address.

[Pre-Chorus: Addison Rae]

(Ah-ah-ah, ah-ah)

Go left at the light, then pull over on the right, uh

(Ah-ah-ah)

So come take a bite in the middle of the night

Through breathy vocals, Addison gives directions to her place for her mystery partner to “take a bite.” Siri could never!

[Chorus: Addison Rae]

My neck, to die for

My legs, to die for

This ah-ah sex, to die for

I-I-I want someone who thinks I’m to die—

My taste, to die for

My waist, to die for

This boom-boom bass, to die for

I-I-I want someone who thinks I’m to diе for

Throughout 2022 and 2023, the chorus made its rounds in several viral TikToks where people started understanding the Popstar Addison Rae™ vision. She confidently outlines some of her best attributes in the hook—I mean, she’s Addison Rae, so there shouldn’t be this much convincing, but you do you.

If these lyrics prove anything, it’s that we shouldn’t settle for anything less than we deserve when we know we’re “2 die 4.”

In 2022, Charli XCX took to Twitter and showed love for the track when it was still unreleased. “this. song. is. ART,” she wrote.

[Post-Chorus: Addison Rae]

(Die for, die for, die for)

(D-d-diе for, die for, die for)

(Die for, die for, die for)

I-I-I want someone who thinks I’m to die for

[Verse 2: Charli XCX]

I’m that girl you don’t wanna lose

Cutthroat from my head to my shoes

One look and I’m already your muse

Hold on to me tight when I move

Grip right, lock eyes on you

Not for life, just tonight is my mood

Be bad boy, I want you to

Bad boy, I want you too

Charli has officially entered the chat on the second verse. The original leaked version of the track was initially a solo effort with different lyrics, but in 2021, Addison revealed in an interview with Variety that she had been working with the “Speed Drive” hitmaker on some music. That same year, Charli confirmed she was in the studio with the TikTok star during a Twitter Q&A.

she’s great. she comes with great lyric concepts. they all sound like vroom vroom lyrics. it’s super cute. I think she a great popstar 💞 https://t.co/uTuedlbelo

Now, let’s get into this *brand-new* verse from Charli. In true Leo fashion, she lets her “boy” know she’s not someone he’d ever want to lose because she’s “muse” material. This not only aligns with the rest of the song but can also allude to her super sweet romance with musician George Daniel from The 1975.

Don’t get it twisted, though. Charli makes it clear she only wants a good time for the night and makes a clever play on the word “to/too” with the final lyrics when she tells him she wants him to be bad and confirms that she’s into him, too.
