Oh, you thought Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce broke the internet with their podcast PDA? Well, buckle TF up, besties because the royal wedding—ya know, the one we’ve been daydreaming about since Travis Kelce first confessed his crush with a friendship bracelet—is officially happening. The Life of a Showgirl songstress and her pro baller BF just announced their engagement (!!!) in the sweetest, most rom-com-coded way.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” Taylor oh so casually captioned the post on Instagram. As if the news weren’t enough to keep me fully fed for the next 365 days (spoiler: it is! And then some!), she went and wore an on-sale Ralph Lauren Polo dress that strikes the perf balance between soft lover girl and old money elegance.
The striped silk-blend style has the most flattering smocked bodice and a flowing A-line skirt that feels so Taylor, but also, so fiancé. She understood the assignment without going too bridal too soon! Howevs, there is bad news. Despite the fact that I found the dress within five minutes of her IG announcement, the style sold out in even less. I get it, this is a culturally iconic moment that should go down in history books! I stood no chance of successfully adding to my cart.
These styles look soooo much like Taylor’s!
And while there’s always hope for a restock (seriously, RL, do us this solid!!!!), I found sooo many similar styles on the internet to keep us patient in the meantime. I mean, for starters, this Amazon lookalike checks practically every box—striped ✓ Smocked ✓ Maxi ✓. And priced at $21?? You’ll save so much compared to the RL style, which frankly, is best since most of aren’t billionaires like Miss Taylor. This Hill House version is nearly identical too (not to mention the brand is an editor fave!), while Abercrombie’s design gives Taylor’s look a lil update thanks to its trending drop-waist silhouette.
While I may not actually be close personal friends with Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce (outside of my own delulu brain), you best believe I’m buying the Amazon copycat all in an attempt at manifesting a save-the-date.
